Across the United States, a constellation of predominantly Black communities has risen to become symbols of economic strength, cultural influence, and generational progress. These communities, suburban enclaves, historic neighborhoods, and thriving counties, is a representation of the AfroGlobal movement: the global rise of Black excellence, wealth, and interconnected achievement.

Understanding these communities matter. They are living proof that Black prosperity is not an exception, it is a pattern, a legacy, and a blueprint.

AfroGlobal refers to the global connected African communities and also represents the worldwide network of Black achievement, economic, cultural, intellectual, and entrepreneurial. It’s the idea that Black communities across the globe are connected through shared progress and shared potential.

These 10 wealthy Black communities in America are nodes in that global network. They show:

• What happens when Black people gain access to opportunity
• How wealth can be built and sustained across generations
• Why representation in prosperous spaces matters
• How global Black communities can learn from one another

They are not just places, they are proof points.

1. Prince George’s County, Maryland

Often called the wealthiest majority‑Black county in America, PG County is a powerhouse of Black homeownership, political influence, and professional success. This community developed after the Civil Rights era when Black federal workers and professionals moved from D.C. into the suburbs, building strong neighborhoods with high incomes and stable schools.

PG County proves that Black suburban prosperity is not only possible, it can thrive at scale.

2. View Park, Windsor Hills, California

One of the wealthiest Black communities in the western U.S., known for its panoramic views and historic Black homeownership.

During the 1950s–70s, Black entertainers, doctors, and business owners moved into the area as discriminatory housing barriers began to fall.

It stands as a symbol of Black luxury, creativity, and cultural pride in Los Angeles.

3. Baldwin Hills, California

Nicknamed “The Black Beverly Hills,” Baldwin Hills has long been a center of Black wealth and influence. This community came about As restrictive covenants were struck down, Black families gained access to high‑value neighborhoods, creating a thriving, upwardly mobile community, showing how access to housing can transform generational wealth.

4. Friendly, Maryland

A small but powerful community with one of the highest median incomes for a majority‑Black area. Built during the suburban boom when Black professionals started to seek quiet, high‑quality neighborhoods near D.C It demonstrates the strength of Black homeownership, with ownership rates above 90%.

5. Mitchellville, Maryland

A standout PG County community known for its large homes and high‑income residents. This community brought together Black executives and government workers wanting to build a strong, stable community anchored by education and civic engagement. Mitchellville is a model for Black suburban excellence.

6. Woodmore, Maryland

A gated, affluent community known for its golf courses and luxury estates. Built intentionally as a high‑end residential area, Woodmore attracted Black families seeking privacy, space, and prestige.

Demonstrating that Black affluence can shape luxury spaces, not just enter them.

7. DeKalb County, Georgia

Part of the Atlanta metro area, home to a thriving Black middle and upper class that came about after Atlanta’s rise as a Black business and cultural hub fueled suburban growth in DeKalb, supported by HBCUs and strong civic institutions. It highlights the power of education + opportunity in building Black wealth.

8. South Fulton, Georgia

One of the newest majority‑Black cities in America, rapidly becoming a hub for Black professionals. Incorporated recently, South Fulton was shaped by residents who wanted local control, better services, and community‑driven development.

It’s a modern example of Black political power shaping Black prosperity.

9. Cedar Hill, Texas

A Dallas Fort Worth suburb known for its affluent Black residents and scenic landscapes. As Dallas expanded, Black professionals sought high‑quality suburban living, building strong neighborhoods with high incomes and high ownership. showing how Black wealth thrives in fast‑growing Southern metros.

10. Missouri City, Texas

A long‑recognized center of Black prosperity in the Houston metro area. Houston’s booming energy and medical sectors attracted Black professionals who built stable, high‑income communities.

It demonstrates how industry access fuels Black economic mobility.

• Provide models for building generational prosperity
• Show the power of policy, access, and opportunity
• Inspire young Black families and entrepreneur

This also connects to the AfroGlobal movement, showing, representing and promoting Black excellence on a global scale as when we highlight these communities, we highlight what is possible, what already exists and whatthe future of Afroglobal empowerment, connection and prosperity can look like.

These communities didn’t appear by accident. They were built through:

• Entrepreneurship
• Community solidarity
• Breaking barriers
• Claiming space

They are beacons, not just for Black America, but for the AfroGlobal world as they remind us that: Black wealth is real, Black excellence is global and the story is still being written.
